The Chest Pain Center (CPC) coordinator works under the direction of the Chest Pain Medical Director and CHI leadership to provide quality strategies to assure the mission and vision of the Cayuga Heart Institute are carried out through the delivery of high quality cost effective care for the patients with Chest Pain/STEMI/ACS. Performs detailed ACS chart reviews required for Chest Pain Center Accreditation. Ability to extract pertinent information from medical records is required. Providing education and act as a resource for evidence-based cardiac education and care throughout the hospital and community.

The Chest Pain Center Coordinator will:

1. Provide leadership and vision for the Chest Pain Program in terms of operations, services and patient care, consistent with best practices and evidence-based care.

2. Gain in-depth knowledge of accreditation criteria and serve as a resource for data entry and reporting.

3. Collaborate with EMS, ED, cath lab, ICCU, telemetry and other departments to maintain standards of care.

4. Assist in educating nursing and ancillary staff on best practices and documentation in the treatment of ACS and AMI patients.

5. Provide education for new employees on the mission and vision of the facility related to chest pain patients and chest pain accreditation.

6. Participate in developing community outreach/educational programs and participate in community events.

7. Fulfill job responsibilities for CHI RN and will be flexible in performing other duties as assigned.

8. Work as CHI RN 3 days/week with standard call requirements; will perform Chest Pain Center duties 2 days/week.

9. Will give bi-weekly updates to CHI director on progress/needs, more often when necessary.


1. BSN preferred

2. Minimum 2 years experience involving care of ACS patients

3. ACLS and BLS certification

4. Ability to complete repetitive keyboard work, lift/transfer patients; position requires fine motor skills, visual acuity
